Volunteering at Welby: Background Check & Safety Requirements

We love welcoming volunteers into our building and accompanying our classes on field trips! Because student safety is our absolute highest priority, we follow all Jordan School District policies to ensure all safety protocols are met before volunteers begin their service.

Depending on how you are volunteering, please follow the steps below:

For All School Volunteers (Annual Requirement)

Every volunteer who helps out at Welby must review the state-mandated Code of Conduct each school year.

For Volunteers with Unsupervised Access to Children (One-Time Requirement)

If you will be chaperoning field trips or working in a capacity where you have significant, unsupervised access to students, you must also complete a background check and fingerprinting. This process is entirely free to you, but it can take several weeks to clear, so we highly recommend getting started as early as possible.

  • Step 1: Pick up the official Volunteer Application Form from the Welby main office and fill it out.

  • Step 2: Bring the completed application to a building administrator at Welby for an official signature and sign-off.

  • Step 3: Make an appointment and take your signed application to the Jordan School District Human Resources Department to complete your fingerprinting and background check. Note: Fingerprinting is "one-and-done"β€”once you clear the district system, you do not need to repeat this step in future years.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep Welby Elementary a safe, secure, and supportive environment for our Wildcats!
